Naomi turned one month old on June 20, 2011 and wow how that first month just flew by!
What Naomi has been doing this month:
You wore a size newborn diaper and size newborn clothes. When we first brought you home, your clothes just swallowed you up since you were so teeny tiny. Grammie Pammie rushed out and got you some newborn onesies and our sweet friend Amy bought you the cutest preemie layette outfit. It was just your perfect size!
When we met people for the first time, everyone said you were SO tiny. Even though you were so dainty in size, everyone noticed how long your arms, legs, fingers, and toes were. They guessed you would play the piano or be an athlete with such long legs. I wonder if you love ballet like Mommy did?! You would make such a cute ballerina. :)
Your eating and sleeping schedule was pretty much every 2 hours around the clock. Mommy and Daddy were pretty surprised at how tiring taking care of such a little one can be... but oh how rewarding! We both agreed that the loss of sleep was the absolute hardest thing about having a newborn. Otherwise, life with you is pure bliss! From your first night home, you slept right next to Mommy's side of the bed in your bassinet. At four weeks old, you finally started sleeping for a four hour stretch at nighttime. Hallelujah!
Sometimes when you are extremely hungry, you snort like a little piggy when getting ready to eat. Too cute. You have been a great eater right from birth. The lactation consultant helped both of us get off to a great start. This was a huge answer to Mommy's prayer.
Dr. Rao is your pediatrician and she is wonderful. She was Mommy's pediatrician as a teenager and she loves you. She says you will be a very visual learner. Thank you to Auntie Angela for letting us borrow her playmat because you love to look around at the animals and are very alert. Daddy likes to talk to you using funny voices for the animals. You really like Mr. Giraffe. You rolled from your tummy to your side at 2 1/2 weeks and you started smiling at us at 4 weeks old. It was seriously the best moment ever!
You like bath time except when we wash your hair. We save that for last and try to do it quickly. Your hair gets very soft and fluffy after the bath and will stick straight up in the back. Daddy likes how your skin rolls up on your back, but we know you will grow into it before we know it! :)
Naomi, you have brought so much joy to our lives and we adore every moment with you, precious girl. We love you!
It has gone by so fast!! I like how you wrote down all the things she is doing and you guys are doing...that will be really fun to go back to read and remember that first month :)
